At the end of a frigid, snow and ice filled winter, I thought I could escape in to my studio. And so it began. Poolside was a flashback to summer, and a different subject and color palette for me to play with.
Something about the three figures shot from above caught my imagination. I loved these shapes and their interactions in this layout. Whenever I flicked through my photo file, I paused on this image as a possible subject.
And as usual, it took me awhile to understand the painting I wanted to create. I wanted the feeling of loose energy to come through, and the interaction of the three figures.
I noticed the sheer layers of color I used would set a different mood in different lights, but always the aqua blue of the water held the figures together.
