When we were waiting for our current condo to be finished so we could move in, my brother and sister-in-law graciously let us borrow their charming escape on the north edge of Ocean City. The view from the large west facing window was inspirational and ever changing.
The lighting was so dramatic. So much going on in that broad skyline. I used undertones of paint in the colors I wanted to build the final palette on. It barely shows through as you build up of layers.
I loved this bayside view, especially in December. The light was so dramatic and clear at sunset. It never got old. And it was tough to capture the real magic. At times I thought it got the best of me, but then I would find a new path.
The drama is there. But the soft layers are so soothing. That took hours of adding on, letting it dry enough that you could add another soft semi-transparent layer. Light and clouds and ripples of water. Perfectly restful.
